Pilton Yard

The Lynton and Barnstaple railway was opened in the late 19th century and was closed in 1935.

Over the last 20 years or so there has been slow but steady progress toward re-opening a stretch of the line. In the last 2 years this progress has gained a real momentum. 2003 should see a small stretch of the line opening at Woody Bay.

From a modelling perspective there is also real interest. With a total of just 5 steam engines and 17 passenger coaches it won't cost you the earth the produce something which is approaching the prototype.

The following photo's and text outline the slow progress toward creating a recognisable but scaled down version of the motive power depot of the Lynton and Barnstaple railway, Pilton Yard in 009 gauge.
