| 5" Gauge Butch The following pages detail the progress made with the latest addition to the 'family'. My brother runs www.littlelocomotives.com and took this loco in part exchange. It appeared from the history of the loco that it had run in the Nottingham area since 1982. Following it's 'withdrawal' for reason that became apparent as the loco was rebuilt, it seems to have changed hands (numerous?) times. One owner took it upon him / her self to spray paint the entire locomotive satin black, top to toe. I was able to purchase Butch because I finally made the decision the sell my 'dream' classic car that had stood in the garage for over 9 years. I finally reconciled myself to the fact that I would never have the time to restore the car myself and to restore it commercially would have cost more that it would to buy a restored car on the second hand market. The following are some photos taken when the loco arrived.
Butch is a model of a Glasgow & South Western Railways 0-6-0 dock shunter. I do not believe the castings / plans are currently available but they were originally provided by Kennion Bros. Hertford. I will publish more details of the prototype and model as I research them. I'd be grateful if any readers can provide information about the model in general, the prototype or the history of this particular model. |
