Cadeby Light Railway -
Final Fling May 2005
The late Reverend Teddy Boston was
real railway enthusiast and a personal friend of the late Reverend Awdrey who
famously wrote the Thomas the Tank Engine stories.
Over the years Teddy Boston amassed huge collection of railway
items at his rectory in Cadeby Leicestershire. A couple of times a year he would
hold open weekends for the public in order to raise money for the church.
Following the death of Rev Boston in 1986, his wife carried on the tradition
with help from the members of the Cadeby Light Railway.
In 2006 Mrs Boston decided to place the Rectory and the
collection on the market and announce that there would be one final open weekend
on the 15th & 16th May 2006.
The weather on the day we visited was superb and we had a pleasant
if a little sad day there. The collection is amazing and had to be seen to be
believed. It included;
