1/2" Gauge Maisie -
Frames
The following pages detail the
progress on the frames.
1995, sees the beginning ....

The photo shows the first stages of construction way back in
1995. There are 3 basic sets of frames. Tender, Main Loco and Loco trailing
frames. Two suitable pieces of steel are selected and squared up for each set of
frames. One piece of steel from each 'set' of frames is then marked out. The two
pieces of steel for each of the frame sets are riveted together. The frames can
now be cut out. By cutting out a pair of frames together you can ensure both
sides are identical when split.
Also visible are the cast, un turned tender wheels, the loco
draw bar, tender drawbar and the loco un machined horn blocks.

Above are close ups of the loco draw bar and tender buffer beam.
It was at this stage that the project was to come to a halt for
nearly 7 years! A change of job meant that it was necessary to relocate my
family to the North West from Lincolnshire. It was to take 7 years of house
rental, purchase and essential decorating before the workshop was finally
'commissioned' again.....
